Overview

What the Google Nest Cam with Floodlight is

The Google Nest Cam with Floodlight is a wired outdoor security camera built to give homeowners a brighter, clearer view of everything happening around their property after dark. It combines a weatherproof 1080p HD camera with dual LED floodlights that automatically illuminate when motion is detected, turning the surrounding area into a well-lit zone that deters prowlers and makes nighttime footage far easier to interpret. The floodlights can also be controlled manually through the Google Home app, letting you flip them on from your phone whenever you want extra visibility, whether you're checking on a delivery or simply want the porch lit up for a few minutes. Mounted on a sturdy, weather-resistant housing, the camera is designed to withstand rain, heat, and cold, making it a dependable fixture for driveways, backyards, and entryways year-round.

Smart detection is at the core of this camera's value, since it uses on-device machine learning to distinguish between people, animals, vehicles, and general motion rather than flooding you with meaningless alerts every time a leaf blows by. When it recognizes a person approaching, it can send a rich notification to your phone with a description of what it sees, and with a Nest Aware subscription it will even alert you to familiar faces it has learned over time. The built-in two-way talk feature lets you speak directly through the camera's speaker and microphone, so you can warn off a trespasser, greet a visitor, or instruct a delivery driver where to leave a package, all from wherever you happen to be. Combined with a 130-degree field of view and HDR support, the camera captures a wide, color-accurate picture of the scene even in challenging lighting conditions like glaring sun or deep shadow.

Because it's a hardwired device connected to existing outdoor light wiring, the Nest Cam with Floodlight avoids the battery-charging hassle that plagues many wireless security cameras, offering continuous power and uninterrupted monitoring around the clock. Footage and events sync seamlessly with the Google Home ecosystem, allowing you to pull up live video, scrub through recorded clips, and customize activity zones directly from your phone or tablet, and those with a Nest Aware plan gain access to 24/7 continuous recording, extended video history, and intelligent alerts tailored to specific zones. Its integration with Google Assistant and compatible smart displays means you can cast live video to a screen in your kitchen or living room with a simple voice command, keeping an eye on your property without ever picking up your phone. For anyone looking to merge robust outdoor lighting with vigilant, intelligent surveillance in a single unified device, the Nest Cam with Floodlight delivers a practical, polished solution for modern home security.
